The Coffee Producers Australia
Pty Ltd Mechanical Harvester
The shareholders of
Coffee Producers Australia Pty Ltd
have rebuilt their Austoft
self propelled coffee Harvester to provide themselves and
others the means of harvesting larger numbers of trees
quicker than by
hand.
The harvester is designed
to go over the coffee trees with a vertical shaker and
radial rods, which vibrate horizontally on each side to
remove the cherries. As the harvester travels through one
row at a time, the cherry is conveyed into a bin located on
the side of the harvester.
Trees can be harvested on
flat ground or on a slope of no more then 20% (11-12
degrees) up and down slope and not more then a 15% (8-9
degrees) side slope. The harvester cannot COMBINE UP AND
DOWN SLOPE WITH SIDE SLOPES. Excessive slope may cause
removal of trees to recover harvester at your
expense.
Trees need to be skirted to
an optimum level of 450 mm from the ground, or at least 350
mm. If trees are grown on a mound of around 300mm high it
will reduce the amount of skirting that is
required.
